• (NORMAN, Okla.) Feb. 2, 2016 -- Moore Norman Technology Center is offering a series of classes this spring that focus on personal protection, weapons safety and situational awareness.

    Some of the classes offered are “Concealed Carry Safety and the Defensive Mindset (Oklahoma Self Defense Act),” “Personal Protection Outside the Home,” “Refuse to be a Victim,” and “NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation.” The complete list of personal safety classes and their start dates and times may be found at mntc.edu. Some courses begin this month.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Jan. 29, 2016 – Moore Norman Technology Center and Tolles, a career and technical education school district in Plain City, Ohio, have partnered for a national awareness campaign that spotlights February’s Career & Technical Education Month.

    The schools’ shared CTE campaign is “Two Schools, One CTE: Creating Opportunities for Career Success” and it tags onto the National Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE)’s theme of “Opportunities for Career Success!”

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Jan. 27, 2016 – Young drivers are involved in fatal crashes at more than twice the rate of all other drivers and the first year for a newly licensed teen driver is the most dangerous, with more than one in five drivers involved in crashes.

    To combat some of these young driver facts, Moore Norman Technology Center is hosting free youth driver awareness classes called "Alive at 25." The classes were developed by the National Safety Council and they target drivers ages 15-24.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Jan. 25, 2016 – The Norman Kiwanis Club and Moore Rotary Club have honored two students from Moore Norman Technology Center as January students of the month.

    Westmoore High School senior and MNTC Carpentry student Kaden Dowell was selected as the Norman Kiwanis Club honoree. He is a first-year student at MNTC and is an active member of the SkillsUSA student organization. He plans to enter student skills contest this spring.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Jan. 19, 2016 – January is School Board Recognition Month in Oklahoma and is an opportunity for local schools and communities to honor more than 2,700 elected school board members for their dedication to state schools and education.

Jan. 5, 2016 -- Moore Norman Technology Center offers a series of classes focused on today’s business professional with the next class called “Winning Ways to Follow-up With Potential and Current Clients” scheduled for 9-11 a.m. Jan. 14. Local business owner and professional Agi Lurtz is the instructor and the cost is $24.

    This class gives new ideas, tips and techniques sales professionals can quickly use to deliver outstanding service and keep their clients interested. Attendees will learn to:

December 9, 2015 – Moore Norman Technology Center’s Federation of Teachers Union #4890 awarded three student scholarships totaling $1050.00 to current MNTC students today. The students are enrolled in full-time programs and the scholarship money may be used for tuition, books and personal needs that would otherwise hinder their ability to complete their classes.

    (NORMAN, Okla.) Dec. 7, 2015 – Companies searching for a facility that offers soldering training have Moore Norman Technology Center’s Franklin Road Campus in Norman as an option. There is a dedicated classroom with six complete soldering training booths and all work is performed in a lead-free environment. 

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Dec. 7, 2015 – The Norman Kiwanis Club and the Moore Rotary Club have selected two students from Moore Norman Technology Center as December students of the month.

    Epic Charter School junior and MNTC Graphic Design student Laura Bowen was selected as Moore Rotary Club’s student of the month. She is an active member of SkillsUSA, a national student organization and was elected as reporter for her class’s chapter. She has also volunteered with the Wildcare Foundation, located in Noble for the last eight years.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Nov. 18, 2015 – The Norman Kiwanis Club and the Moore Rotary Club have recognized two students from Moore Norman Technology Center as November students of the month.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Nov. 13, 2015 -- High school students enrolled in Moore Norman Technology Center’s Pre-Engineering program competed in various contests during the University of Oklahoma’s Engineering Open House held Oct. 30 at the College of Engineering.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Nov. 2, 2015 – The Norman Kiwanis Club and the Moore Rotary Club have honored two Moore Norman Technology Center students as October Students of the Month.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Oct. 23, 2015 – One staple of the fall season in Oklahoma is pumpkin patch outings for families and classrooms. One such venue is found at the Oklahoma City Myriad Botanical Gardens. OG&E Energy Corporation’s fourth annual Pumpkinville is found in the Children’s Garden and unique to the display are woodwork projects produced by Moore Norman Technology Center’s Carpentry students.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Oct. 14, 2015 – Four members of Oklahoma City’s film industry served as judges and idea critics for Moore Norman Technology Center’s Digital Video Production students during Pitch Day today at the Franklin Road Campus in Norman.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Oct. 12, 2015 — Moore Norman Technology Center will host an Oklahoma Blood Institute public blood drive Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Health Education Building, Room 106 at the Franklin Road Campus in Norman. The Franklin Road Campus is located at the corner of 12th Ave. NW and Franklin Road. 

    MNTC has a goal of reaching 75 units for OBI with this blood drive. It is estimated that each single blood donation provides a life-saving benefit to three lives in Oklahoma. 

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Oct. 8, 2015 -- Moore Norman Technology Center’s annual Frank S. Coulter Memorial Golf Tournament was held Sept. 28. Dozens of local businesses and individuals showed their support of MNTC's mission through their financial sponsorship of the event. 

    This is the 10th year of the fundraising effort for MNTC and over the years this event has generated over $100,000 which is used to help MNTC students with needs that would otherwise keep them from completing their career program. This year MNTC had 37 sponsors and 24 four-member teams play in the tournament.

  • ​(NORMAN, Okla.) Oct. 6, 2015 —Gov. Mary Fallin proclaimed October as Careers in Construction Month in Oklahoma and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education is highlighting both its training programs and opportunities in construction.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Sept. 28, 2015 -- Two Moore Norman Technology Center professionals have been nominated for the Journal Record's 2015 Woman of the Year Award. MNTC Superintendent Jane Bowen and Career Exploration Education instructor Zena Amer recently received the honor, along with 48 other professional women representing various industries from across the state. The 2015 Woman of the Year will be announced Thursday during the awards gala at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

  • (NORMAN, Okla.) Sept. 24, 2015 – Moore Norman Technology Center Board of Education member Glen Cosper was elected to the Oklahoma State School Boards Association Board of Directors during their annual conference held Aug. 29 in conjunction with the Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration (CCOSA). Cosper’s two-year term representing Region 15 begins immediately, as he succeeds Dr. Joe Williams.
